I think if it were a long, long drive I'd wait till the migratory birds return in the spring, unless of course a fella would simply like to enjoy a crisp day in a canoe on the water. The birds really make this place come alive. Its a long drive for even me but I enjoy the solitude of it. The woods, however, are full of sparrows, chickadees, woodpeckers and tiny unidentifiable birds flitting about like butterflies. Spring and summer has the added benefit of being able to enjoy the addition of swamp critters that disappear in the cold of winter. Thanks again. You keep tempting me with Beech Creek,I have to try and get there sometime, soon I hope. You got some good pics as usual.Wood ducks are the prettiest of ducks I think. My favorite winter bird in upstate NY was the black capped Chickadee little guys would be about all winter and very curious. When standing still in the woods, especially in the snow they would land on the bill of a cap or on the end of a gun barrel and look down the muzzle to see if there was something edible in there.Always made me laugh.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04357214660531650920noreply@blogger.com
