Her name was Mary Ruth Best, last name may have been Whitehead at the time. She lived in the Calderwood houses and would often baby sit for some of the guest. She also mentioned a man named John that ordered and picked up supplies. She to this day is terrified of water because of the ferry ride that scared her once when the water was real swift. G...Gary, thanks once again for the great adventure. Great find also. Thought you might find this useful and interesting.
Using Google Earth, locate Scona resort on Chilhowee. On the upper left tool bar there is a time clock icon. This icon lets you scan different aireal pictures from the past. You can see the cottages and resort locations, as well as pinpoint them with drop pin markers. The lower right hand corner denotes the matching GPS cordinates. I'll let you use your imagination as to how to use this info. Trust me, my mother would have appreciated the fact that you were able to save
some of the Forsythia. There were so many other plants that graced Scona in the spring and through out the summer. I have a hard time with the fact that none of the 200 Daffodils we planted didn't make it. You have made my Easter and Spring time. Your pics of boating up the lake, really made my heart skip a beat. I am sure you will be finding other treasures of Scona. It will take time and patience. Thank you Gary! Anne HutchisonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
