The above link will take you to the American Eagle Foundation's site. There, you will get an inside look at the efforts involved in helping bald eagles maintain their positions in the wild places of America. Once decimated by the pesticide DDT, they have come back from the brink of extinction to enjoy a healthy population once more. If you enjoy and appreciate our precious wilderness and the inhabitants in it - I urge you to visit this site to learn of the monumental efforts put forth by this organization to help these magnificent birds maintain their position in the wild places of this country. The hacking station spoken about is located along Douglas Lake near Dandridge here in East Tennessee. The eagle I photographed last week, C 2, is mentioned in the write up.
This blog is a visual record of my outings into the streams, lakes and forests of Tennessee and North Carolina by canoe, motor boat and motorcycle. I love photography and use that venue to record wildlife and wilderness scenes for my personal enjoyment. I enjoy writing short stories also and do so while out in the forests or on the lakes. I also am addicted to dogs as will be apparent as you read my blog. But, the canoe is my favorite means of escape and wilderness camping is a joy.
Majestic birds, we are lucky to have them on Beaver Lake too. Will enjoy the link, reading about them. I haven't had time to come for a visit in a while since my Mom has been in the hospital. I may have to give up blogging for awhile.
ReplyDeleteWhen I belonged to the Capital District chapter of The Ruffed Grouse Society we did a lot of habitat improvement work at the Alcove Res. near Albany NY. Part of the area would be open for hunting and part would be a refuge type area.It was not to long before a pair of Eagles were spotted in the area and in the early 80s that was an unusual and welcome sight there.
